Katendrecht
The Katendrecht peninsula between the Maas- and Rijnharbour, where, untill the seventies, port life and it’s entertainment dominated the area, and which has been declining rapidly in the last two decades, is being completely transformed into a renewed work and residential area. The pier is divided into six quarters, each with it’s very own concept and architecture. At the park quarter it’s even possible to ‘build in own control’, by privately owned assignments, which creates a very varied image of modern architecture.
Until 2010 some 1600 dwellings are going to be realized and some 90.000 m2 is being utilized for new enterprises, offices and other facilities.
